Lusis, a leading supplier of mission critical payments software, today announced the selection of its TANGO solution by South African national switch BankservAfrica, a leader in secure electronic payment and information switching services.
The selection of TANGO completed a comprehensive business and technology evaluation of pre-eminent authorisation and switching software vendors by BankservAfrica.
‘The decision by our current supplier to sunset its product provided us with the perfect opportunity to conduct not only a thorough review of our system and its alternatives, but also to re-assess how our payments platform could become a genuine enabler of our business vision’ Frank Pinto, CIO, Bankserv Africa said. ‘It was critical for us that the software architecture we selected restored our ability to react quickly to our customers’ requirements, and, allowed us to exploit our own industry know-how to bring innovation to our business. TANGO was the clear winner in matching those requirements. Its technical and business architecture supported our strategic thinking around such areas as payments convergence, non-financial transaction processing and geographical expansion. Finally, and, perhaps of even greater importance to BankservAfrica in making this investment in our own and our clients’ future , is that Lusis has proven itself to be more than just a very competent vendor but, in fact, has demonstrated the strong positive ethos that allows BankservAfrica to consider them a trusted partner in its core business’ Pinto added.
The selection of TANGO will initiate a migration project to replace the existing switch, as well as create numerous interfaces to support back- office, risk management and monitoring software, all of which can be done simply through the configuration of API’s within TANGO.
The final decision to select Lusis and TANGO was based on the success of an extensive pilot project conducted over the last 6 months.
‘The unqualified success of the pilot project proved that not only did TANGO deliver the full capability to replace our existing solution but furthermore it delivered on the promises of flexibility, agility, capability and quality.’ Pieter Cilliers, CEO, BankservAfrica said. ‘The pilot very clearly proved the rapid development and deployment capabilities of TANGO. From the sign off of the system specification to delivery of the full code only took 3 months, and full testing and acceptance/completion took only a few months more. Going forward, these rapid development and deployment capabilities will allow us to be proactive in addressing our business needs and to offer our member clients additional products and services in a much improved timeframe.’ Cilliers continued.
The implementation, across multiple sites using TANGO’s in built high availability functions, is a collaboration between Lusis and Lusis Payments and capitalises on the recent successful porting of the TANGO product to the HP Non Stop platform.
Pinto concluded ‘We have a strong partnership in place with Lusis based on the proven high availability and strong performance of the TANGO technology. The reliability and true SOA design of the product allow us to focus on business developments to best suit the needs of our members. We have full trust in both TANGO and Lusis and look forward to working with them going forward.’
